Onam - The day of recognition of divinity in man.
Though its spirits are not as high as they were in the past we still could make it a memorable event. After all Onam is the celebration of happiness & togetherness. A small joint venture organized at Honeywell accomadation,Mangaf(KU100) brought out the true festive person in each of us.
The celebration kicked off with the special ‘Ona pattu’(Onam song) lead by Mr. Iype Puthoopally in which all the people gathered without any discrimination. A spectacular game of tricky questions was hosted by Mr. James. That wasn’t it, how can we miss the traditional games played during this time of the year and so a ‘Vadam vali’(Tug of war) was organized.
Then, there was Onasadhya(the Onam feast),which was the main attraction which drew each and everyone to this wonderful occasion. Several traditional food items like aviyal,kaalan and olan were sponsored by the members themselves and the lunch was grand. Ostentatious or sober celebration, Onam is one of the festivals that has made its place in the heart of each Non Resident Indian!
